Zij is de dochter van Helios en Perseis, en de vrouw van koning Minos van Kreta.
Toen Minos de vergissing beging de god Poseidon te beledigen, bewerkte Poseidon dat Pasiphaë een grote begeerte ontwikkelde voor een witte stier. Zij liet Daedalus een houten koe ontwerpen, waarin zij zich verschool en op die manier gemeenschap kon hebben met de stier. Hieruit werd de Minotaurus geboren, een mensfiguur met de kop van een stier.

She is the daughter of Helios and Perseis, and the wife of King Minos of Crete. When Minos made the mistake of insulting the god Poseidon, Poseidon caused Pasiphaë to develop a great lust for a white bull. She had Daedalus design a wooden cow in which she hid and could thus have intercourse with the bull. From this the Minotaur was born, a human figure with the head of a bull.
