Lyssa personifieert gekke woede en razernij, evenals hondsdolheid. Ze wordt door Hera opgeroepen om de held Heracles waanzin te bezorgen. Ze raadt Iris, die het bevel van Hera wil uitvoeren, aan om zich niet op Heracles te richten, maar nadat ze er niet in is geslaagd te overtuigen, buigt ze voor de bevelen van de superieure godin en geeft hem een waanzinnige woede die ervoor zorgt dat hij zijn vrouw en kinderen vermoordt.

Lyssa personifies mad anger and rage, as well as rabies. She is summoned by Hera to drive the hero Heracles mad. She advises Iris, who wants to carry out Hera’s command, not to target Heracles, but after failing to convince, she bows to the commands of the superior goddess and gives him a mad rage that causes that he kills his wife and children.
