De Moira zijn drie schikgodinnen in de Griekse mythologie. Ze worden gezien als dochters van de oergodin van de nacht (Nyx). Het drietal beslist over het levenslot van goden en mensen.
De zusters heten Clotho (spinster), Lachesis (toebedeelster) en Atropos (onafwendbare). Samen werken ze aan een draad die de levensduur van een persoon moet voorstellen. Zo spint Clotho de draad, meet Lachesis de lengte en kiest Atropos het moment waarop de draad wordt afgebroken en de mens sterft.

The Moira are three Fates in Greek mythology. They are seen as daughters of the primordial goddess of the night (Nyx). The trio decides on the destiny of gods and humans.
The sisters are called Clotho (spinster), Lachesis (distributor) and Atropos (inevitable). Together they work on a thread that should represent the lifespan of a person. Clotho spins the thread, Lachesis measures the length and Atropos chooses the moment when the thread is broken and the human dies.
